SUMMARY:

Plans, organizes, directs and controlls the activities of all facilities management and engineering functions, facility space issues, energy and plant maintenance, and internal hospital construction and remodeling projects to ensure the safe and efficient operation of Tucson Medical Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Directs team members in accordance with policies, procedures, standards and practices set by Tucson Medical Center and all governmental agencies.

Oversees and manages specific department budgets, monitors performance, analyzes variances and takes appropriate action to correct issues.

Develops estimates of time, labor, material, and cost requirements.

Plans, estimates and budgets facilities capital and operational projects; ensures budgets and timelines are met.

Directs and maintains plant engineering capability of the hospital; develops systems for control and efficient operations, ensuring effective use of all utilities and central plant optimization.

Conducts periodic site inspections to assess compliance with hospital and agency safety regulations; maintains appropriate documentation of inspections and follow up.

Develops, implements, administers, and modifies programs to maintain physical plant, grounds, and equipment of the hospital through the effective utilization of personnel and materials.

Consults with administrative staff on all matters concerning safety; oversees safety programs including property protection, fire protection and emergency planning.

Inspects completed jobs and ensures conformance with hospital standards, building and safety codes or engineering specifications.

Provides information or resource assistance to other teams, departments or functions; assists others in their efforts, even if there is no immediate or direct benefit to ones own function or department.

Develops contingency plans with appropriate tactics and responds to unforeseen circumstances and utilizes planned resources.

Develops a coaching and mentoring relationship with others that is purposefully aimed at developing their independence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.

EXPERIENCE: Eight (8) years of facility management/construction experience, including five (5) years in a supervisory or management role; preferably in an acute care setting.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM).
